Short Description

​YMCA Swimming Teachers are an essential component in the delivery of the swimming lesson program here at Coburg Leisure Centre. Swimming Teachers are required to maintain thorough knowledge and understanding of all aspects of YMCA swimming  programs, educational trends and industry development.

About the Centre

​Located in the beautiful Bridges Reserve, Coburg Leisure Centre has been improving the health, safety and wellbeing of the City of Moreland's community since 1993. Centre features include a spacious and fully-equipped gym, a group fitness room and a varied group fitness timetable with up to 80 classes per week, a dedicated cycle room, an indoor heated 25 metre pool, learners pool, toddler pool with water feature, a spa and steam room, structured swimming lesson programs for infants up to adults, a café with a range of healthy food options and a childcare facility with outdoor play area. Coburg Leisure Centre is an inclusive leisure facility with access for all abilities, friendly staff and a welcoming environment.

About the Role

Capabilities and Behaviours

Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

Passionate and enthusiastic about Aquatic Education

Able to create age/skill appropriate lesson plans

Knowledge and Experience

Understanding of the AUSTSWIM and YMCA Swimming Lesson programs

Qualifications and / or Licences

First Aid Level 2 and CPR

AUSTSWIM Teacher of Swimming and Water Safety

AUSTSWIM Teacher of Infant Aquatics (or willing to obtain within probationary period)

Working with Children Check

Safeguarding Children and Young People (completed after selection prior to employment)
