Kensington Community Recreation Centre was proud to be part of the Kensington Community Festival on the 2nd April.

The festival, celebrating its 10th year, is supported by the City of Melbourne, Victorian Multicultural Commission, Festival partners and local businesses.

Over 6000 attended the festival that put the ‘unity’ in ‘community’ and celebrated the diversity of the Kensington community.

There were international food and music, and a variety of various activities ranging from community stalls to African drumming.

The new Sustainable Living Expo featured displays and information on food forests, permaculture, balcony gardening and other local projects covering sustainability themes.

For sports fans the festival incorporated the Unity Cup, an AFL touch 9 round robin supported by the Essendon, Western Bulldogs and North Melbourne AFL footy clubs with culturally diverse male and female youth teams vying for the coveted Unity Cup trophy.

KCRC was the hub of the inflatable zone with our own bouncy castle being joined by AFL Victoria’s inflatable slide and skills zone. Over the course of the festival over 250 children played on the range of inflatables on offer.
