Did you know coffee cups can’t be recycled? Paper-based cups contain a membrane of polyethylene to make them waterproof, however this means that they are non-recyclable or biodegradable. Unfortunately this is a little known fact and most people believe these cups can be recycled, meaning recyclable paper and cardboard is constantly getting contaminated.
Following City of Melbourne’s endeavour to encourage cafes to offer discounted coffee to customers who bring a reusable coffee cup, we at Kensington Community Recreation Centre are facilitating this in our café!
A standard coffee will be $3.50, but when customers bring their own reusable coffee cup we will be charging just $3.00 for any standard coffee.
Coffee is an important part of everyday life for most Melbournians, and we are committed to providing high quality coffee but without costing the environment. Help us to reduce waste!
